Solar Panel Solutions for all your needs

Consider solar expansion

Adding panels is always a wise idea if you have lived in your home for a while.  Existing solar panels will likely continue to generate electricity for more than 25 years.  However, your electricity usage may have increased since the original installation with the addition of new appliances, electric vehicles or family members.

  • I changed my internet provider and now my monitor is not reporting. What do I do?

You will first want to ensure that other devices in your home are connected to the internet. If not, you may first want to contact your internet service provider. Getting your monitoring system back online is an easy task, but this will depend on whether or not you have an Enphase Envoy and which model you have. Please feel free to give us a quick call or enter your information below so we can

walk you through the next steps.

  • My electric bill is going up. How do I know if my system is performing correctly?

The first step is to check if your system is functioning properly. Depending on which type of inverter you have, you can either look for a red or green light during typical day time hours on the inverter located near your main service electrical panel or simply reference your monitoring app. If you do not have a monitoring system set up, are having trouble logging in, or see an error code you cannot diagnose, please contact us directly for further assistance.

  • How do I add panels to my system?

The first step to adding on to your existing system is determining how many additional solar modules are needed. By reviewing your utility information, our team is able calculate how much additional power is needed to offset your consumption. If you plan to purchase an electrical vehicle or add additional appliances that will increase your future electric consumption we can also factor that into our calculations. After reviewing your usage our design team will prepare a layout and schedule a time for a free consultation to go over your options.

  • Will adding on to my system void my current warranties?

The simple answer is no. We are able to install a separate system that is independent to what you currently have. This will tie into your main service panel and help offset any additional electrical usage without touching your existing system and affecting any installer or manufacturer warranties that were originally put in place.

  • I want to learn more about battery storage.

We will first need to know what type of a finance agreement, if any, is in place to determine whether or not we can tie battery storage into your existing system. If your lease or finance agreement prevents us from being able to do so, we can always add on additional modules to your system that will feed into the battery for backup storage. • I just bought a home with solar on it. I need help understanding the solar system.

There are 3 major components to your solar system: racking that is used to mount the panels to your roof, solar modules that collect energy from the sun, and inverters that convert the direct current from your panels into alternating current that can be used in the home. Most modern systems are also installed with a monitoring system to track the production and operation of your system. If you need help understanding your monitoring system, do not have one currently installed, or simply would like a health and safety check of your current system, please give Guyou a call!

  • I have a roof leak and I think it is caused by my solar, what should I do?

You may want to check if this is covered under your installers original warranty. If so, you will need to get in touch with them first. If they determine it was not a result of the solar installation or your original installer is no longer in business, Guyou offers roofing services.

  • My installer has gone out of business and I am now an orphan. How do I get adopted by Guyou Construction?

Although unfortunate, this is not uncommon. The great news is that we warmly welcome all solar customers to our family. The first step is giving us a call to assess your current situation. We offer a multi-point inspection to determine the operational health of your system. Typically any issues can be resolved during the inspection, if not an estimate for further work needed will be provided. We offer a multitude of additional services including roofing replacement, add-on systems, storage, and monitoring. Give us a call for more information.

  • How much does an inspection cost by Guyou Construction?

We offer a multi-point inspection on the operational health and safety of your current system. The fee to get a representative out there is $250 and includes the first 2 hours of labor. Typically we can diagnose and correct the most common problems during this window. If any additional work is needed we can provide a written estimate or bill any additional labor at our standard rate of $75 per man hour.
